Pocket Watch [Gold 18 Kt.] `Favre Leuba & Co., Bombay & Calcutta’ with MINUTE REPEATER, STOP WATCH & sunken sub seconds Case No.2091. This fine time piece was acquired by a equestrian enthusiast and has a painting of a jockey riding horseshoe [08 diamonds encrusted] in the front and a painting of a thoroughbred race horse with a jockey thereon on the rear opening thereof. I need further information about this fine time piece. A similar watch without stop watch complication was put up for auction by antiquorum in its Hongkong auction – June 2000.[Refer wwwhttp://business.vsnl.com/subrai/fl .antiquorum.com]

Subpai,
That is certainly a beautiful piece. I can see
what Kathleen Pritchard's book has to say about Farve- Leuba when I get to the office in the morning but I do recall that they focused their sales efforts in India and the orient.
Since you have tantalized us with the pictures of the case and dial, could you possibly get a picture of the movement inside?
It would help us to make informed comments on your watch. Also, is there any more history you would share with us? The quality of the enamel painting is equal to the best I've seen in my pile of old Sotheby's and Christie's catalogs.
A very rare and special watch indeed! Thank you for posting pictures of it.
I must add that is a treat to hear from India! My wife and I spent two days in Bangalore after visiting Madurai and before
Mysore and the beaches in Kerala. It was a
wonderful trip!
