Terry,

Drop-dead gorgeous, and in premium shape. Especially pretty in 2 tone. Thanks.

I have held this watch in hand and find it a very nice example of a hard to find variant. It has all the factory signatures of fit and finish one with a trained eye would expect of Illinois. Nice to see a "real" one for a change rather than the usual poorly done examples that turn up on the bay from time to time. The correct patina of the gold toning on these 80+ year old watches is something not easily faked (top side or bottom) especially in the nice condition this one is in. I was expecting a fake, honestly when I first was asked to pass opinion on it back in April, but was pleasantly surprised and pleased to give a thumbs up on validation. Seeing it again, recently and a closer inspection gave further confidence to that opinion. Thanks for sharing, and a great find.

Hellooooo Doc Ron....

Indeed they have been FAKED, BAKED, etc... as a matter of fact there is an example now on ebay... seen it? I can send a link as management don't like links to live auctions...

The example posted above sure looks legit in hand... and it has been smoked over quite a few times so far.... and matche up quite well with the watch on the Cover of the Illinois "bible".. though that example has a different ratchet wheel......

The details of the tu tone IMHO are what brings this one to the top of the cream... that is the reason for the closeups and pulling the balance cock to show it all.....

I would hope this would be a reference example for the collectors.....

Terrific looking watch and thanks to Terry and Robert for posting it here!

The only other image I'd seen of this watch with this nickel and gold pattern is what is on the cover of the Meggers Illinois book so it is great to finally see another that matches up.
