There is a whole series of Wattses recorded in London (besides many elsewhere), from as early as 1651 to the end of the 18th century. Some pictures would help; from features such as the design of the cock (the decorative bracket covering the balance) it is usually possible to date an English watch to within 20 years. Also, if it still has its cases (there should be an outer and an inner one) and these are silver or gold, they should be stamped inside with ‘hallmarks’ including a letter of the alphabet within a kind of shield; this is a date-letter and fixes the exact year when the case was submitted for testing. If the case appears to be silver but has no marks, it is probably earlier than 1740.
