Hello, and Happy New Year to all!
I have a problem with a Junghans Westminster movevement that I am repairing. All is well, with one exception. The clock will only ever strike once. What happens is that the chime sequence runs perfectly, and the chime train then initiates two actions on the strike chain. Firstly, it raises a holding pin (the strike chain in in 'wait' as it should be), and the strike movement begins to run. As the strike chain begins to run, it drops the rack. At the same time, a lever which has been holding the 'snail' to the side releases it, and it too drops. Problem is that the snail falls just before the rack, and so the rack cannot drop properly, and the clock only strikes once. I hope I have been able to descrive this problem well enough for someone out there to understand what's happening and offer some advice. I am pulling my hair out over this one!
Please ask for more details, pics if it will help.
Thanks in advance,
Denis
