From Judy Draucker, Interim NAWCC Chair:
Dear Members,
Enclosed are brief biographical sketches of the five appointed Board members. This information has been furnished by David Wood, Chair of the Nominating and Elections Committee.
Please join me in welcome these members to the NAWCC Board of Directors.
Bruce S. Bazelon Harrisburg, PA
Bruce has over 30 years' experience with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, 20 of them as curator of military history. Today he's Chief of the Western Division, managing a number of museums including some horological collections. He has just recently become an NAWCC member but is familiar with our museum and has provided it with occasional assistance over a period of years. In addition to his extensive experience managing museums, he is a peer reviewer for the AAM museum accreditation program and a board member of the Dauphin County Historical Society. He has valuable contacts in Pennsylvania and is well respected nationally.
C. David Collard Houston, TX
David is Associate Professor, medical practitioner and researcher at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. Among his activities, he is one of three co-principal investigators on a multi-million dollar NIH research grant to identify DNA predictors of heart attacks and other heart conditions. His prolific academic and career achievements include relevant experience with committees, editorial boards, and grant applications. David joined NAWCC two years ago. He has developed a collection of Vienna Regulators, and gave a well-received lecture on them at his regional meeting last year. He is scheduled to give the major opening lecture at this year's Ward Francillon Time Symposium
Craig H. Grosby Plantation, FL
Craig manages large commercial properties for a global real estate company, CB Richard Ellis. In that capacity, he does considerable financial work and routinely works with a five-year time frame. As a Director of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), he has further experience with membership issues and long range planning. In his five years as an NAWCC member, Craig has been an active Field Suitcase program student, a member of three chapters, and served as President of Chapter 60 in 2003-4. He has participated in managing an NAWCC Regional and is co-General Chairman of the upcoming National Convention. He serves on NAWCC's Education Committee.
Peter Klein Coconut Grove, FL
Peter began his career as an accountant and auditor for US Treasury, and has been an investment broker for the last 30+ years. He is presently an investment consultant and portfolio manager with Smith Barney. He also has extensive Board and leadership experience, including fundraising, with charitable and non-profit organizations such as Baptist Hospital of Miami and Voices for Children Foundation. He is a 25+ year member of NAWCC with a substantial horological collection and expertise, and NAWCC service at the chapter and regional levels.
Gary Landis Pell City, AL
Gary brings strength as a manager, educator, and consultant with board experience relevant to NAWCC's situation. He is a PhD and in his earlier career was a process control expert and operating manager for large corporations including Unisys and General Motors. He now runs his own business in management education and consulting, as well as an antique business specializing in clocks, and he has taught a variety of university courses in recent years. He has been very active in a 50 thousand-member international operations management association (APICS), including service as President and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, during a time when declining membership led it to reorganize its structure and governance. Gary has been a member of NAWCC for over 30 years.
