Looking to purchase and was sent these pictures. Looked in Trans Ly and not there. Looking at label and condition, was this a repo or any idea on age? Advice appreciated, thanks.

Hi Popeye, your model is a "Globe". It should be listed in Tran's book, it's in mine under "hanging clocks". What is on the case around the bezel? I checked my Seth catalogue #531 and it is listed for sale in 1892-1893 but this model could be even earlier. Looks like the case may be walnut? John

As Santa Fe said, it's in Tran. See 3d ed., vol.1, page 322. 1890's, may be date stamped on back.

Appreciate the replies and info. Missed it.
Is this rare? Condition looks pretty good, that is why I thought it was a repo.
I did not know that was original label or not.

Label looks original. I don't know whether anyone did repos of the Globe. It is not rare, an overused term. They can be found fairly frequently.

I agree with Steven T., the "Globe" is not rare...the labels, by the way is at the correct spot. I have never seen a repro of the Globe as such, although there are many newer versions of the long drop octagon top, some made in Korea. They would not have an old dial and old label and look like this one however. Globes were made for years. Later versions had a pointed bottom and it resembled the "World" (and they are often confused with the World) but with a standard 8 day movement. Most were made with a time only 41 movement although some were time and strike with the 44 movement. Some later time only versions had the 123 movement. I personally like the version your pictured.

New to this forum and new to antique clocks but have always loved regulators in particular. So now I'm jumping in... found this Seth Thomas Long Drop at a local clock shop and fell in love. It looks beautiful and the movement has been restored/repaired and is warrantied. Not sure about the date. Can anyone offer any insight? Thanks.
