I confess I'm a Hamilton enthusiast and know little about Walthams, but this handsome 2-tone crossed my path it sparked my interest. When I checked the database for the serial no. 5075590, it listed the grade/name as 'Royal'. Since this one is marked "Riverside" I decided to post it and see what folks can tell me about it, e.g. is it unusual or common, etc?
Thanks,
Ralph

Nice watch, this is the first TT of 88 model I have seen. Someone will be along with more knowledge than me to help you.

These are rather common, esp. in worn out condition--folks over clean these TTs and ruin the TT finish.

However, these arepopular and in demand becaue of their TT beauty and make a nice watch to collect if ORIGINAL!:D

I appreciate both responses and now have some other questions. Since the database listed this as a "Royal" named grade and the watch is actually marked "Riverside" is there an oversight in the database?

If not did the production runs combine the two grades?

What are the differences between the two grades?

About how many of each grade were produced in the 1888 mode?

Thanks in advance for any information,
Ralph

It apears to be a mixed run.
