Henry, this looks like a candidate for an adjustment in your data base.

The watch is a Hampden, Ser.#2582531, Special Railway, 23j, adj. 5 pos., two tone, model 4.
It is mentioned in the Hampden book, but no pictures. The serial number listing in the back of the book lists it as a hunter, but not two-tone.

I have the matching 23j OF model, so I enjoyed getting the hunter version.

Tom, et. al.:

Ed and I might have contributed to the possible error in Henry's data base. We had serial number 2,582,512 erroneously listed as being a 21-jewel, open-face movement. Upon checking the source (an Ashland 2002 mail-order catalog) it appears to be the same as your serial number 2,582,531.

Very nice watch Tommy

For an 18 Size, best of the best -23 J, HC, TT, adjusted 5P

I must review my data sources for the single 1,000 run of 2582000 to 2582000, as there is apparantly a lot of unusual variations appearing in this run.

In case of doubt, I always data input the watch run as the more modest watch. I would rather call a 23 J a 21 J, then call a 21 J a 23 Jewel.
That way if it is a 23 Jewel, then we will deal with it on the data input once we are sure of the movement characteristics.

Will respond more, once I review my data for this run.

Henry, are not all 18s SR 23J hunters TT? I have a NR 23J that is nickel but I don't remember seeing a SR TT 23J hunter in anything but TT.

Kent and Henry, thanks for the information, and, as always, thanks for the time and effort to maintain that great data base.

Hernick's and Arnold's Hampden Watch Book - page 30-8 show 2586006 as a HC 23J Nickel.
This is the only run of Nickel 23 J HC Special Railways I have noted. all others are noted as TT.

Now the OF 23 J Special Railways another story - nickel finish is noted in the following runs:
2812000
2980000
3121000
3351000
3357000

Just received an email from a lady who is getting around to identify her husband's grandfather's watch they have put away

2191533 - Hampden - 23 Jewel - HC Case - TuTone - Adjusted - Special Railway - extra fancy Hunter multicolored Keystone case marked 14 K.

Database apparently had all the correct information, except it showed it as adjusted to 5P.
