What specifically would you like to know?

These are very common, low grade watches......................

How to find information on this watch and how to date it.

The NY Standard Watch Co was in business from 1885 to 1929 in Jersey City,NJ. As was said above, they made low cost, economical watches which appealed to the common man. It is estimated that they made and sold aprox 10,000,000 watches. There are no records available for the company, so all info on movements, grades, and serial numbers are guesses and estimates. With your SN in the 70,xxx range, I would put the date of mfg at the late 1880's.

As I said, these appealed to the common man as the price was inexpensive. They were a step above a dollar watch, but gave the customer a choice of dials or cases, which the dollar watch did not. These watches are not easy to work on. Generally, watchmakers hated to work on them. So, there are a lot of them out there in non-working order.

If your watch is in running order, that is a plus.

I can add that it is a model 3 and it should be a hunter.

By the 1898 parts catalogs they were up to serial number 300,000 and a model 6 in 18 size. So a serial number of about 71,000 is rather early for such a large producer of watches.

FYI,

The "NY Standard Watch Co." was purchased by the "Keystone Watch Case Co" in 1900.
