New member with unknown watchmaker help Please!

Can anyone tell me anything about a c.p. Barnes & Bro., watch company or maker? This watch has that on the face. The works has Louisville Kentucky. I am not finding any information on this watch. I will post pictures soon.:):confused:

A private-label (custom marked) name that is found most often on late 19th century watches made by Hampden or Illinois.

The movement photo will allow us to identify precisely.

If you Google this name you will find a funeral service for General Lee, where these brothers are listed in closing their business for this funeral service out of respect. The date is 1870 and this could indicate the age of your watch. This could also indicate they were the merchants who sold the watch.

Sorry Gentlemen I have been posting in the wrong area and taking to long to get pictures. I am new to a computer and trying to get pictures on here have been an experiment. Thanks for your patients. I think the serial number is 99,237. Which would date it about 1878-1879. Nice looking watch. Somebody drilled a hole in the crystal to make setting of time easier. The hands don't look original at all.

As predicted, your watch is a Hampden private label.

It is likely to be Hampden Springfield Mass, which is a little more interesting than the later Ohio Hampdens.:D

The case and hands are both replacements.
