Has anyone ever seen this case mark.. it is on a 16 size gold filled case..
It might be Ward & Co. According to page 58 of History of the American Watch Case, Warren H. Niebling, Whitmore Publishing, Philadelphia, PA, 1971 (available on loan by mail to members from the NAWCC Library & Research Center (http://www.nawcc.org/index.php/library-a-research-center)), they were in business 1860-1885 making only solid gold cases.

Thanks Kent, you may have something there... but I do not think it is solid gold.. The case is very heavy and well made 3 hinge ..Maybe later on the company started making gold filled cases..Interesting there are lever slots at 7 and 23 minutes.. and they both look original, like the case was made for an Elgin Convertible or something.. The original movement is a Hampden.. from 1891, a grade 100 Mdl 2 For all you Hampden guys it says there were only 1090 of this movement made.. It is a hunting movement in an open face case, with a nice enamel conversion dial with the seconds at 3...

Mike,
It is not that special... just a low production movement..Must say though, the gilding for a Hampden is quite nice..
