The Interstatetime "Watch of the Month" took a month off in September. The editor was too busy. Anyway, here is a link to this month's effort.

Thanks John, those are some of the nicest Bunn's I have ever seen.

Do you have any idea how many of those are out there?

John

Thanks for a very beautiful pair of Watches of the Month. As always, very educational for us newbies.

Steve

PS You do know what happens to people that keep showing their Bunns off in public, don't you?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Gandalf,

I really do not know how many of these watches are out there. I have seen several, perhaps 4 or 5 of the 21 jewel variety in my life, but this is the first of the 23 jewelers I have seen. The Meggers and Ehrhardt book says that 200 of the 21 jewel variety were made, but I do not know how they arrived at this number. They do not list the 23 jewel variety, but an Illinois expert told me he knew of one other example. Anyway, neither is very common, and they tend not to appear on the market too often.

Here is another 21 jewel Bunn Special "Extra" ...

http://www.nawcc-info.org/Hansen/fh020a.2.jpg

Interesting to note that the damaskeen of this watch is the same as shown on the 21 jewel in the link at the start of this thread ... but that the markings of the two watches are different ... with the one in John's photo having a different adjustment marking, a smaller size to the "Extra" marking, no "Double Roller" marking, and a different style and text of adjustment markings.

These are the type of minor differences that keep Bunn Special collectors busy, and that make putting together a near complete Bunn Special collection a very tough task!
