Hello!
Anybody knows about the History or any information about M.W. Subers of Bainbridge Georgia.
This watch was made by Elgin in 1886 and I assume that Subers was a retailer like a jeweler.
Thank you so much for help.:o

Now this is really interesting. I checked the US census records on line looking for a M.W. Subers as a jeweler in Bainbridge Ga but there wasn't one, technically anyway. The 1880 census lists a William C. Subers as a 42 year old jeweler in Bainbridge Ga. Guess what though, the census lists his wife as Mattie W. age 40. Imagine that, a jeweler using his wife's initials as a private label. Is that love or what?
The 1900 census still lists William C Subers as a jeweler in Bainbridge however now he is joined by two of his sons Jessie, and Amos.
