I purchased a watch on ebay that looks to be an early Waltham keywind model (prior to the name of Waltham being used) or a Swiss fake of the same time frame. It is a hunter style watch, 15 jewels, full plate, strange looking regulator and hairspring. I picked it up for $30 and shipping so even if it is a Swiss fake it is one old old Swiss fake so that is fine with me also. From all the reference material I have it appears to be in the same or prior to the Waltham "Boston" movement. It has a very nicely engraved balance cock but the rest of the plates are basically unmarked with the exception fo the serial number which is marked with a very fancy N then a small o and 4,xxx which if it is a Waltham would put it in the 1856 date range or if it is a Swiss copy I would think that the Swiss did not copy movements that were 10-20 years old so that would also put the Swiss fake in the same date range if it happens to be a Swiss fake. The watch was intact except for the hands so it should be a nice one to add to my collection.
I will post pictures and hopefully get some feedback on it.

Hello,

Photographs would be helpful do identify the watch.

The swiss made and exported a variety of pocketwatches signed with similar sounding company names to American companies. They copied American Watch Co.'s "Model 57" layout - basic the original design from Dennison Howard & Davis and taken over and refined by American Watch Co.

Ok here are the pictures, the dial is a nice quality porcelain but only has one hold screw and the hand posts are square instead of round. It is missing on pillar post screw and only has one hold down screw for the movement. Balance staff is good, seems to be missing 3 small screws around the spring motor.
