Which is the correct style of hand for S.T. 18s mod 5 tutone movement with an arabic numeral dial?
The hands are medium spade as far as I know, but should the minute hand have a "spade" or should it be the more pointed variety? The reason I ask is I have two of these watches, one with each style of minute hand. I can't decide which one is original.

Peter,

A reprint of a 1904 S Thom. product line notes that the better grade full plate 18s open face mvts (i. e. model 5) came with "Railroad Dial and Hands". An accompanying illustration of their watch with railroad dial shows the hands as straight spade hour with whip style minute.

Hope this helps,

Greg

Thanks a lot. Just the info I needed.
I also learned a new word: "whip style"
