Advice re: demagnetizing

Most of the time demagnetising the whole watch is enough.Occasionally the hairspring is so full of magnetism the hairspring has to be removed and buried in cast iron filings to remove all the magnetism.Some of the newer demagnitisers might be strong enough to do the job the first trial.

If you own an electric soldering gun, you can use it as a demagnetizer. Just pass the watch through the wide part of the loop with the gun on.
