A little over 7,000 20-Jewel (http://elginwatches.org/scans/elgin_ads/1895/m_ElgnRRTS.html) & 21-jewel, 18-size, full-plate, open face Elgin movements were built in the "Gay Ninties" (which may not mean what you might think that it means) without any grade markings and, in the case of the 20-jewel movments, no jewel markings. Most are designated as grade No. 150 and a few as grade No. 277 (http://elginwatches.org/scans/tech_doc/master_records/m_grade_277_specs.html) (which were Converted from Grade No. 150 (http://elginwatches.org/scans/tech_doc/master_records/m_grade_277_notes.html) watches).
Only a portion of these watches were lever-set. One of these, and a number of other less common 18-size watches will be shown by the Watch Focus Group on Sunday, April 5 at 9:30 AM at the Atlanta Chapter-24 (http://webpages.charter.net/grunwell/NAWCC/NAWCC.htm) April Meeting at the Activities Building, Mountain Park Aquatic Center, 1063 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain, GA.
Oh yeah, Bob Booth wll be speaking on Ashby, Mass. Movements at the meeting.
Hope to see you there,
