I bought a nice case today but was very dirty. After a good cleaning it looks great I wish I could show every one the watch.

The marking on the watch has a shock of wheat and the letters BWCCo under the hall mark. There is a line under the last o. The shock of wheat is in a box. I only find this mark under the 14 K listing in my book can any on help me confir that I have a solid gold case.

The watch is a Elgin 17 jewel adjusted gilt movement, it also says saftey pinoin. May be a broken main spring. I got is as a parts watch.

information please.

Don, Your Wheat case was made by the Brooklyn watchcase Co. The wheat case was a patented process done by BWC Co. It is composed of an outer layer of 14K gold and an inner layer of 8K gold. It was advertised as having all the advantages of a solid 14K case, but at a lesser price.

These are nice cases and have the overall feel of a solid gold case.

In essensce, your case is solid gold, but not 14K throughout.

I thank you very much, not a watch day goes by I do not learn somthing.
it may not be all 14K but is good as I thought it was a gold filled when I bought it.This is the stuff that makes it fun and a learning experiance.
Plus a good value most of the time.

As every one I have paid to much for a watch before, this tme i go ahead.
Thanks
Don
