Hi -

I have a New York Watch Company key wind pocket watch with an early Hampden dial. The watch is in the 30,000 serial number range.

Since the New York Watch Co. turned into Hampden not long afterwards, I was wondering if there is a possibility that the dial might be original to the watch. Did Hampen finish some of these these New York movements, and are they often found with Hampden dials?

Thanks,
Mike.

M,

In my experience your movement *should* have a NY dial. It usually works the other way around-many Hampdens have NY dials (it is the dials that are left over, i.e. AT & Co. left over ones on American Watch Co. movements to 30,000).
