Election Corrections

There are two separate errors in the recent Board of Directors Election material located in the February Bulletin (Vol. 51/1 #378). The first error, noted in the paragraph below, affects the election process although it will not influence the result.

The wording on the 2009 NAWCC Director Election ballot “Vote for six candidates” is incorrect. However, voters are advised to follow the instructions on the ballot and select six candidates. The four candidates receiving the most votes in this election will be confirmed.

The second error was found in the February Bulletin article “2009 Election for the NAWCC Board of Directors and NEC.” The following is incorrectly stated on page 58 of the article: “In this election three of the six open four-year-term Board positions are being filled; the other three will be filled by direct appointment following the election.”

This sentence should state: “In this election four of the six open four-year-term Board positions are being filled; the other two will be filled by direct appointment following the election.”

Upon discovering these two errors, NAWCC Executive Director Steve Humphrey and NEC Chair Doug Cowan agreed to dispel potential confusion by immediately informing the membership of their occurrence and to instruct members to follow the instructions on the ballot as printed.

A reference chart listing elected and appointed board positions for future elections has been created to prevent election ballot errors in future elections.
