I should have put this under this topic, sorry for the duplication:

After lurking for some time, I've decided to try my first post.

I recently purchased a c. 1830 New England Cigar Box clock on Ebay, and didn't read the listing close enough. I knew the glass was cracked and had been removed, but the image was in good shape. I thought I could scan the pieces. The fact that I found this particular clock sent me into a tizzy, and I got it for next to nothing. I asked the seller to carefully wrap the broken glass so there would be no more damage, and she told me that she had thrown the glass away before she listed it, since she didn't think anyone could possibly want it!

I had hoped to reproduce the glass using the scanning and decal methods in some of the threads here. But now I have no glass left to scan. Does anyone happen to have a similar clock they would be able to photograph? The image below is the best I can find, and it is the exact same tablet as my clock once had.

Thanks,

did that end about two weeks ago? I believe I was bidding on that clock as well, hoping to repair the glass.

It sure did. I had the same plans as you...it seems that even though the glass was pictured, it was already gone when we were bidding. Given what I paid for the remains, I can't complain, but it was a sad end to the tablet. It looked like it was repairable...

Heavy sigh...

Jim, you could try a search at the NAWCC library for information, or try a bulletin search for information.

Thank you, Harold, I'll try that!

I realized that I didn't include the picture I mention in the text...so here it it is...and oh, how I wish i had the shards!

At the risk of being hypercritical, I repeat:

So her listing included pictures of the door glass that she had discarded before actually listing the clock? And the listing did not mention that the glass had been discarded? That sounds like misrepresentation at worst, crass foolishness at best. JMO.
