Here is a picture of a Illinois dial that was described by the seller as a Flying J dial. What makes this a Flying J dial?

This is the tougher to find version of the Bunn Special marked 16 size dials and has the "23J" marking located up there between the markings "Illinois" and "Bunn Special".

So the "Flying J" name is referring to this type of marking. This isn't Illinois factory naming, but I believe these dials were first called this by my friend Robert Smothers. I think its a cool name and it has gained use over the last few years so quite a few Bunn Special collectors now know what is meant when they hear this name.

The plainer and more common variant of marked 16 size Bunn Special dials are signed "Illinois" and "Bunn Special" at the top, and "23 Jewel 60 Hour" in the curve over the seconds-bit. So there is no "Flying J" marking up there on these other dials.

Yes, this is a very sexy name; hopefully the PG will use it in future editions.
