Hi,
I have in my possession(or rather my mother in law has in her possession) a pocket watch with the following inscription on the mechanism
A.W.W.Co Mass
Waltham
15 Jewels
6845955 (the case also has this number)

I have looked at the www.nawcc-info.org (http://www.nawcc-info.org) website and it indicates that the watch should be between 1895 and 1899. However it also indicates that it should have between 7 & 11 jewels.

There appears to be a discrepency here (watch states 15 jewels) meaning that I do not know whether the identified date is correct or not. I was hoping that someone could enlighten me.

The watch was purchased in the US by my mother in laws grandfather when he was off to make his fortune and then brought back to Poland by him. This fortune was relative I think!

It was then brought out for me to see this morning and I thought I would look it up a little. There is lots of information on the AWW Co watches and the company on the internet but nothing I have found facilitated me in identifying this particular watch. Thus my attempt to pick your collective brains.

Regards,
Daryl

Are you sure you took the number off of the watch movement because it is very rare that the case number will match the movement number as most of these watches were not cased at the factory but at the jeweler. This is a hunter type of watch with 3-4 covers, two on the front and two on the back, you have to open both rear covers and look at the actual guts of the watch where the serial number is stamped into one of the rear plates. If possible, post pictures.
