I have a pocket watch with deer/elk on the back and a pink shield or badge on the front. 23 jewels, motor barrel, 549910 s#, Hamilton Watch Co. A N Anderson Extra on the face, 14K gold, 946 extra.
Can anyone help with the age or info about this watch? Beautiful watch with a colorful bead cover?

This post should be moved to American Pocket Watches.

Gus,
You have inherited a very fine watch made by the Hamilton Watch Co., of Lancaster, Pa.
We can't discuss value on this board, but if you look on eBay or buy a copy of the "Complete Price Guide To Watches" Copyright by Tinderbox Press, available on the internet or at most major book stores, you will see that the watch is a higher grade model.
It was made by Hamilton in a run of 1000 watches ,549,000-550,000 and was finished on 11-12-1908. If you write or contact the NAWCC library research dept. and they can tell you when it was sold to Anderson and the date.
The A. N. Anderson name on the dial is a RR inspector and jeweler in Minneapolis that sold many Hamilton watches in that area.
Does the movement share the same information as the dial, including the "extra" marking?
If you can take a digital picture of the movement and post it here that will help to verify this information.
Thanks

Hi Gus -
That is a terrific watch and I'd also like to see some photos of the dial, movement, and case if possible.
The 946 was at the top end quality wise for Hamilton and an "Extra" marking on the movement adds to its collector desirability. You also seem to be describing the correct A.N. Anderson marked dial that would be expected for a 946 Extra, so it sounds like you may have a very nice watch there in its original state.
