Hello to all. New member. Just purchased a Waltham pocket watch and am trying to find out some information on it. First pocket watch I have ever bought and I can quickly see how this can become addictive. I've been searching on google for a few hours trying to find information and have concluded that it is from 1893 or so, but that is about it. I've included some pictures (direct link to my flickr account) and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. I also have no clue on how to set the time. :(

Looks like a 6 size 7 jewel hunter case. You pull up the crown to set the time.

That is a model 1890 7 jewel, gilt movement, stem wind, pendant set 6 size watch. It appears that the watch is a recase based on the extra screw mark in the rim. It is a modest watch, the case is nice, it is 14K gold filled. Make sure when you close it, you press down on the button so you don't wear out the latch or case lid. You are correct in that the watch was produced around 1892-3. Pull up gently on the crown(knob) at the top and you can set the time, push down gently and you wind the watch. Hope this helps. How does it run?

Thank you for the replies. Nice to know more about the watch. It's seems to me to be in pretty good condition mechanically. After setting the time, it's running fine. The internal parts look in good condition, at least to me. The case has some blemishes, but all in all looks pretty good to me. Bought it for $200 CDN. I think this may be the first of many. :) Thanks again.

Hummmm.....

Although we're not allowed to discuss specific values, that seems a bit high compared to the prices that much higher grade watches are selling for on eBay.
