Has anyone seen this semi-private label before? I say "semi-private" because it still carries the manufacturer's name, too. This is the 17-jewel model and the next post shows the 19-jewel model. Both have a custom damasceen pattern, as well. Both also came with standard Waltham-marked enamel dials.

This 19-jewel model is probably Riverside grade.

Jerry:

Very interesting!

I can't quite read the last few digits on the serial number, please tell me what it is?

Thanks,
Kent

The only info shown in the listing for this run of 500 is Grade: “Ass’t Spec.” Curious.

Very interesting indeed! I have not seen these before, but in my research on Elgin PLs, there are a few that are "semi-private" labels like these, also with unique damaskeening patterns (notably the "Transit" and "Elite" with 2 tone patterns).

Interestingly, Elgins marked "Strand" use the same style of lettering as Jerry's "Crest" Walthams.

Cool watches!

Jerry -

There was a 16 size 17 jewel Waltham "Crest" that sold on eBay a few weeks back. Unusual damaskeen pattern and an interesting watch that sold for a very reasonable price. I will post a link if I can find it again.

Fred, thanks for the link!

Kent, the 17j is 20,056,848 and the 19j is 20,309,403. Both of mine are 12-size, of course.
