I hope some out there has experince in dismantling this model,to include removal of the movement and the brass trim appliques.Clock runs fine but needs to cleaned and serviced. I also need a back door and wasn't exactly sure if one is available for this model as NOS from Merrits et al.
This model appears to be a variant as the finial/topper is right from the factory and has never been removed,Tho others I have seen have fans, eagles or a shell version as the top trim this one has solid iron and follows the clocks contours to a "T"
Thanks for any advice and help.
Regards,
Bruce

I think you'll find that the entire back piece comes off (metal screws). When it's off, you'll see clearly how the movement and the trim pieces are attached. Keep your picture, because it's very easy to get the side pieces on the wrong way, which will interfere with the access to the dial. The top finial does not look original to me, but as you point out, there could have been variations. The back should be a metal piece, round like the hole, and latches with a tongue and groove set-up.

Thanks for the help Shutterbug.......If that that finial is not correct, then someone went to a heck of a lot of work in a machine shop to make it when one could have been purchased.

Ansonia NOS?

Ansonia went out of exixtence in 1929. Most, if not all the existing suply houses did not exist until long after that date.

I would think any clock material, new-old-stock from Ansonia has long since been used. There is some Sessions material still around, however they closed in the much more recent 1970 (under the Sessions name).

Thanks Len,..1929 eh? lots of things closed down that year !! I guess I will have to look for one at Merritts or Timesavers unless someone has one from a scrapped clock.

Now that you mention Merritts, they do have antiques clocks and perhaps some parts from the old ones. But I doubt that any of the other supply houses would have any.

The others, plus Meritts would have the repro parts but I would contact the antique shop there, before putting repro parts on.

You could also try eBay.

Good luck.
