What are the initials after the word "Elgin" on the movement of the following pocket watch? I can't make out that type of writing!

Serial Number: 5205741
Grade: 27
B.W. Raymond
15-17 Jewels

Thanks!

Hi Kim,

Immediately after Elgin on the movement is the abbreviation for Illinois, Ill.

WHEW! Thank you so much. Now that I know what says, I looked again and can totally read it now! It's strange because just a few minutes ago I was thinking that it said TW, or TU, or maybe FU, and then I came to the conclusion that it said JU.

Then...I suddenly thought...OH NOO, not another "Swiss Fake"!

Now that I know that it isn't, I can take a deep breath and go on with my day.

Thanks again,
Kim Gerard

I own a Swiss Fake KW that could readily be mistaken
for an Elgin Model 2. But only in general layout.

It isn't *labeled* Elgin, It's a "Western Watch Co." (And
the same movement apparently sold under a few other
names, as well.)

The Swiss (pre 1870) made them up to please every taste.

My father had a pocket watch with the Home Watch Co name on it.he thought it was a Waltham all his life and later when it was passed onto my brother i found out it was a Swiss fake. Nice watch regardless and runs well too.

Kevin: Home Watch Co. is a Waltham.

Hi Kevin -

As Sam posted this is indeed the name of a Waltham product. It was a lower grade movement in Waltham's line and here are a few past threads that talk about them ...

If you can post photos of the watch we could tell if it matches up to what would be expected of a Waltham "Home Watch Co." movement. I expect it will be a Waltham Home but it would be nice to see some pics to tell you for sure that it isn't any type of Swiss fake.
