Was just wondering..is the pendant set 950 considered rare?..I know only about 4000 + were made but just wondered if the PS is more sought after or less..as it is not railroad grade..I have recently aquired one....was a bit surprised ...had to look twice....when I seen it was PS...
Thanks..

Just depends on "who's" definition of RARE one takes....

a large majority do not consider this number 'rare'..... it takes production numbers much less for that term

are these 'more' sought after? in reality, probably not... but those that want to make a 'set' look for them for completion...

I differ in opinion of it being railroad 'grade'... the finishing of the movement was as good as its lever set brother... it would just be that it was not universally accepted as a standard watch...

how is yours configured.... case, dial, etc?

I read on another private collectors site that the pendant set model was made for those that did not need a railroad grade lever set watch...I agree the movement is the same except for the set method...but was lever set mandatory to be considered railroad grade for this watch at this time? I think it was...?..so thats the only reason I referred to the movement as not being railroad grade....I myself would rather have the lever set model..I wonder how many of these pendant set ones are still out there...hope this picture works..8)

Out of approximately 330 950s listied in our data base, about 45 are noted as being pendant-set. However, a large proportion of the listed watches are not noted as to their setting method. Many times, the report didn't mention the setting means simply because the watch wasn't completely described. But sometimes, mail-order lists that usually were careful to say when a watch was lever-set failed to note when they were pendant-set.
