I have this Banjo Clock that I did a quick clean on (with out taking the movement apart) It runs fine but it will not run after I wind it until I flick the EW then it runs good until it needs wound again. I would love to have this one work properly but I am not comfortable with trying to disassemble this hairspring movement and I know that most of you understand why. What I would like to know is...

A) Is there someone out there that would do a good cleaning/bushing job for me? I could send it out to you and then get it back and re-install it in the clock. How much would it cost to do this?

B) Is it possible to buy a new movement like this one? I have not seen any in my research.

I do not really want to go with a quartz movement because I love the way it ticks and I do not want to lose that.

Thanks,

Bill

David J. LaBounty - CMC FBHI.
He'll do that for you and do a better job than any other I can think to recommend. [url]http://abouttime-clockmaking.com/

I doubt its possible to find a movement like it...dpending who made it.

Ebay is your best bet.

My grandmother had a rear winding banjo thats now mine. It never worked properly so the movement got ripped out and replaced with a quartz movement (which strangely enough also doesnt work).

I honestly would rather have a clock with a poorly running original movement then one with a replacement that worked fine.

Thanks I will check with Mr. LaBounty to see how we go about doing this.

I agree with chrsvor I would rather keep this clock (gilbert 1807) the way it is than put a quartz movement in it.
