Hello All,
Could someone give me any information regarding this waltham movement? I am interesting in finding out the age and rarity. Also would it be easy to find spares for this movement?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Aditya

Assuming I've read the serial number correctly (1,462,615), you have a model 1877 grade Broadway 18s 7J movement. There were 277,778 of these made.

List or serial number is wrong, for sure not a 18 Size 77 model as they are full plate models. Could you measure the size of movement on the dial side please and post it. This is a 3/4 plate model looks like a 14 or 10 size to me.

I would agree with Bill that it looks to be a smaller size.

In looking at the photo I believe the movement might be a 6 or 8 size model 1873. I believe the likely date of the movement would be around 1880 give or take a couple years.
As an uncased 7 jewel Waltham movement of this era, I don't think it would grab too much interest among most pocketwatch collectors I know. Also the interest of most collectors I know tends to draw toward the men's size production, and if this is indeed a 6 or 8 size movement it would have little interest for those that focus on the larger sizes.
If there is a rarity or historical significance to this example that I'm not aware of this would of course raise the collectibility, and hopefully if one of these factors is there someone can comment on it.
Many of these keywind and set from the back Walthams have lost their original cases, and finding an appropriate loose case would definitely be a challenge. I believe there are many times more loose movements circulating around than there are nice original watches.
You will also notice that the regulator is missing from this example.

Serial #1,452,615 an 8 size movement. They are not very collectible because the case to fit it is about impossible to find. Hope this helps.
