I have what looks to be a pocket watch, but is odd. The numbers on the face run from 1-10. The smaller dial on the face is broken into 10 running 10-100. It says "American" above the hand, and on the very bottom it says "The New Haven Clock Co USA. It has only one hand for the large face, and one hand for the smaller dial. There is no winding mechanism (that I can discover), since the bit on the top (sorry, I don't know what the word for it is) doesn't pull out. There is also no place for a battery.

I've called a few watch companies in my area and no one seems to know what exactly it is. One person suggested that I post here and hopefully someone will know what it is that we have, since it doesn't appear to be a watch.

Looks like you have a 100 Mile Pedometer. This image was taken from a 1936 Becken Jewelry Catalog.

:o (i)

That's it!

Thank you so very much. I knew it couldn't be a watch (not missing two hours and a hand), but it was going to drive me crazy until I found out what it was.

Thank you.
