Fresh out of the box-A 21 jewel Model 92 Crescent Street. S/N 7023901 with that number in Serial Number Position 2 (SNP2). It occurs in run 7022001-7025000 which the Gray Book says is a run of Vanguards. There are reports of a group of Crescent Sts within this run with Vanguards before and after them. This is not especially unusual for the Gray Book but the significance of this C. St. (and the others) is that the surrounding Vanguards have the serial number in SNP1, directly under the words "Vanguard Waltham, Mass" making these C. St.s the first in SNP2. Movements from the next run, 7025001-7025500 have the serial number at SNP2 where it will stay for a while.

I don't believe the records indicate serial number position. Photograghs of Vanguard movements in the 7022001-7025000 run before and after the Crescent Streets show the serial number in Position 1. The watch in hand and 2 other photos show the Crescent Streets have the serial number in Position 2 documenting the point at which the serial number was moved. Photograghs from the next run show the serial number in Position 2. Kind of curious as to why once it changed with the Crescent Streets, it did not stay there.

Jim, I have an incomplete 21J Vanguard, HC movement that is SN 7004707.
The SN is on the plate just under the movement name. Tried to take a pic, but just couldn't get a decent pic of the movement.

Tom-

The number is right where it should be. Thanks, I'll add it to the database.
