I have come across a Illinois key wind movement and I am unable to find it in pocket watch guide book. I was wondering if anyone can give me any information and whether I should put money into it to have it fixed. Needs atleast a new staff.
Russell W Snyder's Illinois Data Base CD identifies it as a grade No. 101-S (the 'S' suffix due to it being a private label), adjusted to temperature. It is also shown to be a grade No. 101 in American Pocket Watches Vol. 2, Illinois Watch Co., Encyclopedia and Price Guide, William Meggers, Jr. & Roy Ehrhardt, Heart of America Press, Kansas City, MO, 1985. I don't see why you had a problem finding it, but anyway, it's a medium (well, perhaps the low end of medium) grade watch for the era.
