I am taking a watch to the watchmaker just to have him open the case so I can get the serial number. Then I will just take it home to store it. Do I need to wind it just to transport it to and from the shop?

Good luck,Kent, I did read that article. I do not own a case opening knife. I would be afraid of slicing open my finger with a pocket knife. The dust cover is very tight on my watch.

Anyway, I am off to the watchmaker now. I have another watch to pick up (needed a crystal).
