I have a problem in identifying whether a particular balance staff is the right one for my watch -- as if it seems to be, then I will want to buy it. There are serious issues in identifying the right staff (or other parts) for my watch -- as has been determined by about three pages worth of forum discussion on it in the past.
The watch is Stratford branded and made by Langendorf Watch Co., in Switzerland. It was marketed in America and made to look like an American-made watch. For whatever reason, it was never catalogued, so parts can't be identified. (I think this really does belong under the America pocket watch forum rather than the European forum -- and this watch is a prime example of why those forums might be better merged back together.)
As such, my question today regards the Best Fit catalogue and a particular listing there. I am not a watchmaker myself, so I don't have that catalogue. And it just isn't worth going out and buying it for this one-time use only.
So, I'm asking if someone would look up in it a particular balance staff and let me know the measurements listed for it. If the measurements are right, than that will confirm it is for my watch.
You see, the place that is selling it has merely listed it as for a Stratford and said it is Best Fit #100/659. The guy who runs that place online is a certain personality so that asking him for the dimensions just isn't going to work. So, if someone on here could take a quick look at Best Fit for me and let me know the dimensions of that staff (by the same A, B, C, D, E listings that Best Fit uses), it would be very helpful. Because with the listing merely stating it is for a Stratford, but not saying what size Stratford, I can't tell if it is for the same size watch as I have.
Meanwhile, if anyone has a good balance staff or full balance for a 15-jewel Stratford, with a movement of 40.05 mm, let me know -- as that's what I'm looking for.
