I am trading for 2 railroad watches with one being an Waltham Canadian Pacific watch. In researching the serial number the Waltham data base shows it as a 15 jewels watch instead of 17 jewels, as shown on the plate. it also does not show up as a CPR watch. Can somebody explain, please.

Pictures did not take first time around.
harold:
The explanation is easy. Waltham pulled a number of movements from that run and finished them as 17-jewel watches. Here's what Ed Ueberall and I have in our data base from that run (all 17-jewel):
5,728,083 - AT&Co
5,728,092 - No. 35
5,728,100 - CPR
5,728,194 - CPR
5,728,294 - CPR
5,728,294 - CPR
5,728,508 - AT&Co
5,728,630 - CPR
5,728,948 - CPR
5,728,976 - CPR
In fact, we haven't seen (or heard of) any examples from that run that are 15-jewel grade No. 35. But then, its only in the last few years that we've been recording data on unmarked 15-jewel, nickel adjusted model 83s.

Harold, You probably already know this, but you have a definite hairspring problem on your watch.

Tom Yes I do. It also needs a new balance staff, one hand and a new crystal.

Would anybody have a drawing or picture with measurement of the Waltham Model 1883 balance staff?
I also need dimensions of a Elgin Grade 478, BW Raymond balance staff.
The reason being is that I have some balance staffs which I want to see if I can supp;y a watchmaker with parts., in order to repair these watches.
