Is there some problem with the Waltham serial number database on the NAWCC site? I haven't been able to get to it for several days now.

There is no hassle over the logo. The server crashed last week right after I left for Pasadena. I will have it back up next Tuesday the 12th of February
Both the Waltham database and the Patent database that are housed on NAWCC-INFO will be moved to NAWCC servers when capacity and labor are available. They were developed on Windows servers and are extra work to move to Linux/Apache/MySQL.
NAWCC-INFO is extra Windows server capacity that I have been donating to the NAWCC for about 5 years now. It is physically located at my home.

Then Sam lied???
We really all need to work on eliminating needless perjoratives from our vocabulary. Sam was mistaken. :)

Must be the same OLD double standards. Tom McIntyre can, but no one else is allowed to.

Jon: I did not realize Tom had already given all that to the NAWCC and was holding it for them. Too bad it won't work on a Lynix server.

Maybe Tom will switch it?

The NAWCC has Windows servers. It is just a matter of allocating the disk space and moving the databases. The databases will be located at HQ to make it more convenient for the LRC to use.
I have been busy with higher priority tasks and have not had time to do this. I will also need to train someone to back me up on the maintenance of the databases. This is also not a big deal, just something that needs to be done.
Why not mirror it with the rest of the databases on the 149 site?

The information could be put there. The database would need to be converted from Access to MySQL to work on the Chapter 149 Server.
Did you get the copy I sent to you? I never heard back from you.

Tom: You and I know how much work is envolved in making it work with a MySQL DB and PHP, Perl or Java.

As stated in a previous post, I have been using Waltham.ch (http://www.waltham.ch/cgi/waltham/search.asp).
I do not know if they show totals and more in depth number massaging, but it is fine for a lookup site.

The Waltham database at www.nawcc-info.org has been moved to a new server configuration and updated to the latest web server software. The performance seems to be much better.
Those who are interested can thank my son David who does similar things for BMW Financial Service for getting it all configured properly.
The AWCo.og, AmericanHorologe.com and NAWCC-Info.org are all on a common platform and should all show similar performance improvements.
AWCo.org (http://www.awco.org/index.htm)
NAWCC-Info.org (http://www.nawcc-info.org/)
AmericanHorologe.com (http://www.americanhorologe.com/)

tom, thanks for your hard work, I find this database invaluble as for some reason I am attracted to Walthams. It comes in very handy when tryiing to get parts to know if the material is U, A, etc. and what type of hairspring was original. Again, a hearty thanks.
