vandd4621:

Your watch is a grade No. 926, built in 1910.

Nice!

There were over 80,000 grade No. 926 movements made. I'm not sure what the percentage was of those that were finished with gilt trim (a term used to describe gilt screws and regulators), but even if it was only 5%, that'd still be over 4,000 movements. We'll never know for sure because the records don't indicate what type of finish was used. Anyway, that's starting to get down to were it might be called slightly uncommon but it can never properly be called rare.

Or, are you referring to the swing ring case? This type of case is very common. The term "Swing-Ring (http://static.flickr.com/47/146084194_d7b355fc75_o.jpg)" (SR), sometimes referred to as "Swing-Out," is usually applied to those cases in which the movement is mounted on a ring which, is hinged to "swing-out" from a cup-shaped back. This is an open-face case, designed to hold a movement with the winding stem at the 12 o'clock position. An SR case appears similar to a screw back and bezel case. However, there are only two outer parts, the bezel, which is the ring around the dial that holds the crystal (glass), and back, so there is only one joint visible when the SR case is carefully looked at. This style was made by many watch case companies such as Crescent (http://photos9.flickr.com/13966764_fbd5b637c7_o.jpg), Illinois (http://photos9.flickr.com/11784066_e51064e004_o.jpg) and Keystone in Silveroid (http://photos8.flickr.com/11784067_096cdde34c_o.jpg), or Gold-Filled (http://static.flickr.com/44/146113395_1f20fc835e_o.jpg) (the other companies' swing-ring cases were also available in gold-filled styles).

Oh, since it is a sterling silver case, the '4' in the box indicates that it is 4 ounces.
