Must have hired the same engraver. Check out the word Davis on each watch.

I agree with you Jon, but, there is an Ari Davis listed in Loomes Watchmakers of the World, being from Boston USA, circa 1840.. Maybe the Waltham guys hired away an experienced local Engraver at start up:?|...

I did a search and found a T.A. Davis listed in Boston Mass. as a watchmaker. My pics aren't great but if you put a loupe on the words Davis you can almost superimpose them. I have no doubt that this is an English movement but thought it was retailed by T.A. Davis Boston, Mass.

Went to google to find it again. Thomas Aspinwall Davis Born Dec. 11, 1798 Brookline Mass. Died Nov. 22, 1845 in Boston, Mass. Listed in the Boston directory from 1825=1834 as a jeweler and watchmaker.

These were English ebauches, signed by Amer sellers from their locations here on unsigned movements sold in the USA==jeweler contract watches. There are many.

I was aware of that. I didn't claim that the T.A. Davis watch was made in America nor did I think it was. I am only pointing out the similiarities of the engraving and the possibility that the same engraver did both watches which doesn't seem that remote. Earlier I was of the impression that you thought the T.A. Davis watch was from Boston England.
