Hamilton 950E Enlivar

Hello,
Would like to know from you experts how many 950E Elinvar were produced by Hamilton. Is it true that this watch is the highest quality grade made by Hamilton. Thanks.

According to research, there were 7,001 Hamilton 950 Elinvar's produced from 1937 to 1941.

The 23 jewel bridge movement 950 and 950E was the most expensive of the 16 size line and of the highest quality.

The 950 and 950E were also offered factory cased from the beginning to about 1941 when the 950B was introduced.

To add to what Robert posted, the 950 was still being offered as Hamilton's 16-size, 23-jewel watch in 1936 (http://static.flickr.com/27/45053072_13bb3eddd2_b.jpg) but the 950E was offered in 1937 (http://static.flickr.com/25/45053073_b2a240d8b8_o.jpg). And, by 1941 (http://static.flickr.com/45/143730303_7c9a6b70e1_o.jpg), the 950B was being offered.

Thank you Robert and Kent. There is one for sale on eBay but the price is nearly $3,000.00 .This watch was pre-owend by a well- known collector. Can that have an influence on the asking price?

IMHO... it should not.... the item itself should be your only consideration.

That is not to say that some may perceive an additional "value" when connected to someone famous, but that is up to them or an individual circumstance.

avoid the hype... concentrate on the item, its condition, its apparent originality...

read the descriptions... if you do not understand terms, 'hype', or anything in the description....... ASK ...the seller.........or someone anyway....
