In my last post I told of the clock gaining too much time. I miked the spring, and it was .0032. Put a new one in at .0035 and it's losing 2 hours a day. I suppose this could be corrected by shortening the spring, but by how much? This is a standard Schatz movement. Thanks for any input.

Hi Chris,
The Repair Guide states that a 0.102mm ( 0.004 in ) wire is correct for the standard Schatz. This is true even for the very early JahresuhrenFabrik clocks right up to the Model 49. I suggest that you obtain a genuine 0.102mm wire and try again.

you should make the spring hang about an eighth of an inch from the bottom to about a quarter without it looking odd.

You put on a thicker spring and it's losing time now? It should be just the opposite - gaining even worse. If this is actually the case, I'm pretty sure you have a problem that is not spring related :)
Oh .... looking back at the original post I see you were losing time, not gaining :)
Yes, get the Horolovar .0040 and it should work.
