This is my first time posting. I collect wrist watches, however I just purchased a rather interesting pocket watch at an antique store. The hunter's case is coin silver, only estimating it as a large 16 size or an 18 size. I'm not very fimiliar with pocket watches. I would post a picture of it but I am unsure how :?|. I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with this watch or had any information. I just thought it was quite interesting since I've never heard of the company. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

This is most likely not the maker of the watch, but instead a marking of name and location that was custom ordered from one of the larger watch factories. These are known as private-label watches and are often custom marked with the names of jewelers that sold the particular brand of watch.

I have seen this Hutchinson name marked before on an 18 size watch made by the Illinois Watch Company, but it is just as possible that your watch was a private-label by another maker other than Illinois.

Obviously the best answer will come if you can post a clear photo of the mechanism of the watch, and if we can help describe how to use this function of the board just let us know. But the next best thing would be a complete description here of the serial number and all the markings that are found on the mechanism of the watch.
