Hello, I was wondering if there is a database on "Ohio" pocket watches such as there is for Elgin, Watham and other watches. If not, are repair parts available still? Thanks...

I have never heard of a Ohio Watch Co., so I assume we are dealing with a Swiss fake. These were watches created by the Swiss to look like American watches. It is impossible to find parts for these watches since we have no way of knowing who made it and the Swiss used so many variations of design and sources for parts.

If we had a clear picture of the movement, we could probably tell if it is Swiss or if it is a pivate label US made watch.

I've been watching it for a few days on an auction... here's a small pic of the movement and dial. Thanks again.

Hi Robert -

There are a huge number of past discussions on this board involving Swiss fakes.

Here is a link to the advanced search page ...

... and I'd say set the Forum button to search American Pocket Watches and then enter the term Swiss Fake under the "Exactly matching:" bar of "Content criteria:".

Understanding and recognizing Swiss fakes is an important part of collecting American pocketwatches.

Appreciate the information. I'm looking for a pocket watch to take to the field suitcase class being held at the national convention in Springfield MO next year. Long story short... I've got time, so I'll keep looking.
Thanks again!
