The vast majority of Waltham 1894 model 12-size watches take the 2224A mainspring, which has a hole-end. Some of the very first production (7 or 8-million serial number) may take a 2224 mainspring, which has a hook riveted in the end.

Thanks. The watches in question are all 22+ mil serial number, so I'll look for the 2224A.

I have just posted the mainsprings that were available for Waltham watches in 1949 on the Model 92 web site http://oswegonet.com/model92/ After you get there, click on Technical Aspects and then Mainsprings for Waltham watches.

Thanks! That's a pretty handy resource.
