I just tore apart this movement and had the snail off before I noticed the shape of the "star"that lifts up the lever for striking. I have never seen one shaped like this before and wonder if anyone can explain the purpose of the thing.
Another question, the stopworks have a little steel "keeper" that you almost have to destroy to get off. Why not use an e clip? Maybe Mr. Sligh didn't expect anyone to tear it down.
