:?|This is a question on history of Waltham Half Hunters.I have recently had restored this Waltham Royal Half Hunter. The watch maker added a new hour hand - not a double spade - I think its called a tear drop hand ? Can anyone help with a question? I've always been told the correct hand is a double spade - but the 'thinning' tear drop culminating in a spade looks very good (almost designed for a Half Hunter) and I wanted to know if these tear drop hands were also intended for Half Hunters? - a more recent design perhaps - the tear drop looks similarly designed for a half hunter. Any information please.Thank you.

The double spade is most common. I have one English watch that was originally cased as a full hunter and converted to half hunter about a year later. (I know this because I have the shop records for that watch and conversion) It has a tear hand.
Half hunter was the most expensive case style and the seller did what the buyer wanted.
Any hour hand that let the wearer tell it from the minute hand with the cover close works. It is only "incorrect" if the wearer can not tell time.
