I came across an old pocket watch with a rather unique design. It's an old hunter style but with a small crystal in the front cover that has Roman numerals around it. It's signed 'Edward Glasgow' on the dial which (for some reason) made me think it was from England. The movement is a Waltham 15j. The case read 'Sun' A.L.D. Dennison Watch Case Co.
Any ideas??

Your watch is probably an Scotch/UK private label watch using an imported American Waltham movement housed in a demi-hunter case made by the transplanted American Aaron Dennison's watch case company. Dennison was one of the founders of what would become the Waltham watch company in 1850. He is usually credited with the idea of the industrialization of pocket watch manufacture. After the company was bought out in 1857 Dennison had philosophical differences with the new management and ultimately left and emigrated to the UK where he started a successful watch case company. He may also have acted as an agent for Waltham watch, many were exported to the UK.

I see you are located in Canada, perhaps one of your ancestors brought the watch over or another immigrant did so.

Any chance of posting a picture and /or the serial number from the movement.

Thank you gentlemen for your help. Here are a few pics of the watch. It is in excellent condition considering it's almost a 100 years old. The serial # is l 6395588 I'm not sure if the first digit is an 1 or the letter l. It appears bigger than the rest of the #'s and is spaced differently.

Hi Tim:
Nice watch,
The first digit appears to be a 1 and not a “I” as the serial number would be incorrect in the database. According to the Waltham serial number database, you have a model 94, size 12, 15 jewel hunter case watch. The case style that you have is often referred to as a Demi-Hunter. The serial number of 16,395,588 would put your watch at a production date of 1908.
Hope this helps,
gp
