Jim:
Very nice - thanks for sharing them with us. One doesn't always associate glitzy movements with Hamilton, perhaps this post will serve as a remeinder.
Not to detract from the post, there is a minor mis-reading. The 990 that's listed is really a 972. The serial number is really 306033, not 308033. With the disturbed filling in the lettering, it can be hard to distinguish a 6 from an 8.
Thanks again,
Kent

This 990 sold on ebay a while back.

I was absolutely awestruck by the movement damasking, and in my limited exposure, have yet to see another Hammie that matches it.
I did not purchase it on a "buy for now", and missed it in the auction.
I emailed Jim (he was on a trip) and asked him if it was an orginal watch movement.

What a wanderful display of damskeening! Thank you for sharing it with us. I really enjoy looking at them.

Hi Henry -
That pattern is typical of the 990, and you should have no trouble finding another one (even preferably a complete watch).
The 991, 970, and 971 also share that same damaskeen pattern.

I think I like the 994 pattern best.

Sure it is!
Take away the dirty center wheel and put aside the overly bright photo ... and they are the same damaskeen pattern.

I rather like the pattern on this Hamilton. Movement serial is 618850, circa 1907, 18S, silveroid case, thick glass crystal with scratches but appears to be original.
Very nice!
Are you going to tell us the serial number? What's the dial signed?

Well I realized I didn't provide all that info, so while you posted, I edited..........
"Union Special" is signed on the movement. "Hamilton" is signed on the dial which is double sunk, no hairlines, chips or crazes.
The demaskeening and engine turning are really special to see on this beautiful movement.
