Some time ago I recall reading that someone on this message board used a red oiler for a beat setting tool. I decided to give it a try, and it works great on the small collets in ladies wrist watches. A very inexpensive tool that can be purchased in different sizes .. red, yellow, blue, and green. I'm going to buy another set to be used just for this purpose. The different sizes should be suitable for just about any watch hairsping collet.
Thanks,

I use sowing needles. I grind down the eye end and make a fine screw driver shape with a very long taper. The ointed end goes into a small diameter dowel.

Don,
Wouldn't sowing needles be a little too large?
